The Four Mouseketeers!

When a kitty needs saving, who do you call?  Why, our dear friend, Jessica, of course!  This time she stepped up to help not one, not two, not even three….that’s right FOUR kitties!!!  Initially, this started with just Captain (a beautiful white boy with a tabby face and floofy tail) and Sammy (a Snowshoe/Siamese Poly) who happens to also be missing part of his tail.  While they were chilling with foster meowmy Lynnda, Jessica rescued two more babies.  Hunter, a handsome tiger boy and Sierra, a beautiful Maine Coon mix, decided they wanted to join the party!  They hunkered down with Sharon while waiting for the Love Train to take to the rails.

On Saturday, June 23rd, the babies were all packed up and ready to ride.   Jessica made sure to snap a photo of each before they hit the road.

They all look relaxed and ready to go as if they realize that they are on to a bright new life with new momma Beth, thanks to the kindness and generosity of everyone who has been involved.  Jessica headed off from Michigan to Ohio to meet up with Catherine.

Here are Jessica and Catherine together with the babies.

Here’s Catherine with all four of the babies.  She told us she “was laughing so hard because we were trying to fit everyone in and I’m tall so if I stood up my head was out of the picture I Need to get a “wide angle” camera phone…lol” (rest assured, the crates were not stacked for travel – they were stacked solely for the purpose of getting EVERYONE in the picture! )

Once the transfer was made, Catherine headed off toward Suzanne.  This is what Catherine had to say about her passengers, “Sammy was the talker of the whole trip, he was telling me how happy and excited he was to be going to her new Humom Beth and to be in her FUREVER home with her new brothers and sisters♥   If Captain didn’t have my attention he would head butt the cage so I would have to stick my finger in and wiggle it to rub his little cheeks! (Don’t worry I had a co-pilot with me).   Sierra was lucky enough to get the smaller crate and she was just as happy. (they were traveling the farthest) so they got to stretch out for my leg of the journey. I try to offer a 5 star travel service to all my guests♥.   Hunter was an absolute sweetheart, he rode solo in the big crate in my Gr. Cherokee (26 high 20 wide)he stretched out and rubbed his face all over the crate saying…”this is all mine…Ahhhhh:)

Here’s a picture of Sierra and Hunter riding in style!

Catherine and the kids headed off to meet up with Suzanne and Suzanne sent this pic of Sammy, who was apparently instructing her on something.

Here’s a lovely picture of Suzanne and Annette at their meeting spot!!

Annette also sent us this super adorable picture of Sierra during her leg!

Of course, THIS is the moment we were all waiting for all day!!  Annette and Beth together when Beth got to meet her babies!!  Soooo exciting!!

Beth sent us this later that day “Yay !!!! I am on my way home with precious cargo,Captain,Sammy,Hunter and Sierra !!!  I want to thank everyone that made this great adoption and transport possible !! I thank you from the bottom of my heart !! You are all Angels….Love you all !!! ♥”  Well, Beth, we all think you’re an angel too!  You just saved FOUR babies from, well, who knows what???  The next morning, Beth said, “Hello everyone!! Hunter and Sierra are doing fantastic!! They are super love bugs and adjusting really well!! Captain is being quiet, but is very loving when picked up and held. Sammy is sweet and a quiet kitty, not shy just not a foward type of boy. They are all so precious and beautiful!!! ♥

We’re so excited to hear this fabulous news Beth.  I’m sure they’re going to all be very happy with you in their new home.  Of course, we’d LOVE to see some updated pictures of them all too!!  (hint hint!  No, subtlety was never my strong suit!)

Yet another amazing transport in the books.  Do you want to join us?  Can you spare a few hours to help a kitty get home? Maybe you have a spare bedroom in your house that could double as a B&B stop on some of the longer routes??  Come check us out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/URRKN/.  We have 2,027 members as of today.  Can you be 2,028??

L-O-L-A…..Lola

Once upon a time, there was a little kitty who was oh-so-very young and all alone in the world.  Thankfully, a nice person found her and took her to a shelter.  From there, Mrs. Thompson of the Fancy Feline Rescue of the South snatched her up and took this precious baby to her rescue.  She was showered with love and attention at the rescue and it was her picture as an “available” kitty that captured Amy’s eye.  Amy fell in love at first sight and set the wheels in motion to get this pretty girl home.

Lola, as this pretty girl became known, had to gain some weight, get spayed and get microchipped for her adventure to her new home.  As luck would have it, one of our prior transporters, Bryna, saw Lola’s album on the URRKN page and stepped right up and offered to fly with Lola from Atlanta to Peoria!!!!  Of course, it couldn’t be quite that easy, could it??  The flight to Peoria was full, so Bryna headed into St. Louis with Lola and URRKN volunteers stepped up to complete her journey.

On Thursday, June 21st, Bryna and Lola strolled on through security at the busy Atlanta airport (Oh – just to be clear – Lola flew in the cabin with Bryna, NOT in cargo.  Our kitties NEVER fly cargo).  Unfortunately, the flight was delayed a little bit, but eventually they were safely in the air, winging it toward St. Louis.  Bryna told BekBek that Lola wasn’t quite sure what to make of the airport noise at first, but eventually she stretched out in her carrier and took a little cat nap.

Here are some pics at the Atlanta airport.  The first one is Dale (from Fancy Feline Rescue) and Lola arriving at the airport to meet Bryna to  take off.

This one is Bryna and Lola at security

…and check out Lola on the conveyor belt….I’m sure she’s wondering where the heck she’s headed!!!

Here’s another one of Bryna with Lola in the St. Louis airport…Lola looks like she’s settled in nicely and is just relaxing and enjoying her trip!

When Bryna and Lola arrived in St. Louis they had the BEST welcoming party meeting them.

Don’t you just want to HUG this little boy?!?  I know I do!!  Of course, Tyler wasn’t there alone waiting for Lola – here’s another shot of the entire welcoming party with Lola and ready to head out and hit the road to finish off Lola’s trip home to Amy.  This is Tanya, her husband and Tyler.

Tanya told us that Tyler was so excited to participate in this transport and that “Tyler had to “help” hold the carrier all the way to the car. He and Lola both slept over half the drive to Lincoln with his hand up to the front of the carrier and her face up against it.”  Next to big strong men who love kitties and help transport (and we’ve had several of them), there is nothing sweeter than an adorable little person who loves kitties and wants to help transport!  I think I see a URRKN member of the future right there!!!

Tanya and her family met up with Chris for the final leg before Lola would meet her new momma!  Now, I don’t have any pictures with Chris and Lola to put up here, but I promise to add them if I find them (hint hint if someone has them, point me to them….)

Amy was glad to oblige us all with some pictures once she got Lola home.  She sure didn’t waste any time getting out and checking things out, did she?

She’s quickly navigating her way through all the fun things there are to explore at home!

Taking a break from exploring to grab a quick drink!  (hmmmm…maybe I should have rotated this one before I saved it?)

Look how teeny tiny she is compared to her water bowl!

Awwwwwwww!!  Lola and Amy!!  Both are sooooo adorable!!!

Like any good momma does, Amy snaps pics of Lola doing anything cute….like napping….

And here’s one of Lola and her new best bud Bella – Bella’s the big fluffy one on the right 🙂

I’m sure that Amy will continue to update us at little Lola settles in at home and does more cute stuff (including napping, eating, napping, playing, napping…..), won’t you Amy??

Do YOU want to participate in a transport?  Do you want to help a sweet kitty (or kitties) get from wherever they are to a new, loving, furever home?  Do you want the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from doing something so wonderful??  Come on over to https://www.facebook.com/groups/URRKN/ and check us out.  When you join, an admin will send you a welcome post that will give you all the information you need on how to be a conductor and how our group works.  We’re a happy, fun loving bunch of cat people!!  We’d love to have you!  There are a couple of transports currently pending – who knows, maybe you might be the missing leg of the transport (or you might know someone else who could fill that spot!!)

Baby Greybies

Wyatt the Greybie once said “dreams do come true” and this post is all about two more dreams coming true.  Wait.  What?  You don’t know who Wyatt the Greybie is?  Oh. My. Goodness.  Well, you don’t know what you’re missing.  Now, I must tell you, Wyatt actually crossed the Rainbow Bridge on March 14, 2012, but Wyatt’s “siblings” have all agreed to keep his page going on Facebook.  Go check it out https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wyatt-the-Greybie/243744142325440  I’ll wait…….(tapping paws waiting for you to come back…..)

Ok.  You back now??  Good.  So, if you read the “about” part of Wyatt’s page, you had to have noticed two new additions to Wyatt’s family (well, three, actually, but the one little peanut hasn’t gotten home yet, this story is just about two of them).    So, let me introduce you to the “Baby Greybies”
Angus Wyatt, (named after big brother Wyatt) is gray splashed with white.  This sweet little man was born with a hernia and had to gain a few ounces before he could have it fixed and his neuter done. While he was growing bigger, along came another baby that stole  Mama Beth’s heart.  So, without hesitation, Beth put dibs on him when Greyson Robby was just one week old!  Greyson is named after big brother Robby, who also went to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year (April 23, 2012 due to chronic renal failure).  Soon enough, both sweet boys were big enough to travel and, boy oh boy, did they travel in style.

Just a few days before their ride on the Love Train, foster meowmy Patsy said this “I have tears in my eyes thinking about them leaving on Saturday. Angus Wyatt has been with me for 3 months. Greyson almost nine weeks. I think it is both excitement for them & Beth, and sad to let go…”  I’m sure we can all empathize with Patsy.  She was the first love these babies knew and she prepared them well to go out into the world and spread joy to everyone (especially new Momma Beth!).   Patsy even made sure we saw a few pictures while we were all waiting patiently for this transport to come together.  This one is Greyson with his fur-mama

This one is after a bath and getting a blow dry!!  Such a handsome little man!

And then, the day before, new Mommy Beth said this “awww…the clock is ticking..my little angel boys will be on the road in 23 hours!   To all of you who are involved in the transport….Godspeed and thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart…you are making my dreams come true! And to Patsy…friends forever bonded by fur! hugs! Thank you URRKN!!!!!”

On Saturday, June 16th, the two boys headed out from their foster home with Patsy in Michigan to furever home with Beth in Wisconsin.  Here are the boys with Julia and Patsy, getting ready for their big adventure!

Julia snapped these two of the boys while she had them (and yes, the car is stopped anytime kitties are out of their carriers!  No worries!  We take the safety of everyone (especially the kitties) very seriously!)

Julia’s next stop would be to meet up with Teri in Battle Creek, MI.

Ok, so it’s not a kitty, but I think that this pretty much sums up why we all do what we do, don’t you?!?  Ok…back to the kitties.   Here are Julia and Teri with the boys!  Angus Wyatt looks like he wanted to make sure he was front and center in this one, doesn’t he?  Love that little face!

Here are some more pictures of the boys while Teri had them

Next stop for Teri and the boys?  Indiana….where they would meet up with one of our many cat loving MEN!!  Here’s Teri and Meraj – look at the smiles!!  (I love transport day – smiles, smiles, everywhere!!)  And look, Angus Wyatt is front and center, yet again!

Meraj then hit the road and headed toward Joe (YES!!  TWO cat loving MEN on this trip! ) in Chicago.  Here are all four handsome men in Chicago…hmmm…wonder why Angus Wyatt isn’t front and center on this one?  Maybe he wanted to let the two-legged men shine in this picture!!

Joe also sent us this of the boys relaxing while he had them…and look who’s right back up front again!!

Now that Joe had the babies in his care, he headed off to Wisconsin, Beth and HOME!  Can’t miss the great big smiles in this picture!!!

Sher, a URRKN member, said this on transport day “It has been such an awesome story to be a part of and to watch these two fur-babies be nurtured by Patsy and grow, Mama Beth adopt these two awesome kittens, and then to see a transport happen b4 my eyes! It will be awesome to see the updates as they grow in their new home with Mama Beth 🙂 This is amazing and I feel so honored … just wish I was back home in MI already to have been a part of the transport …”

Transport Coordinator Terri added this “I think something pretty amazing happened here today. Two little kitties needed a home and from hundreds of miles away someone fell in love and a home was offered. People from all around the country went to work. Complete strangers stepped forward and said, “I’ll give of my time to help.” Folks from around the country (and the globe) took the time to watch and cheer them on. And in the end, everyone cried happy tears as we saw those babies in their new home. No ulterior motives, no money changing hands; just a big ol’ bunch of LOVE … and isn’t that what life is all about? ♥”  Yup, Terri, I think that is EXACTLY what life is all about!!  I can’t tell you how honored *I* am to also be a part of this amazing group!!

The next day, Beth updated us on how the boys were doing, “The babies are doing so well. Yesterday Angus was a wild child…and Greyson was so tired. They are rested up and now Angus is calm and patient…but very playful…and Greyson is gentle and sweet and very playful! They are getting so close…they snuggle and sleep together and eat side by side…they kiss each other..they take turns playing with the same toy….it is so cute! Angus is very watchful of Greyson and makes sure he gets up and down the tree okay…They are just so perfect! I adore them! DASH, you were a good foster brother..good job! Patsy, fabulous! Thank you so much!!!! ♥”  She also posted some pictures over the next few days – both on URRKN and on Wyatt’s page (there were a couple I borrowed from there because they were just too perfect!)

Here’s Greyson meeting the vet tech and vet….

….and Angus Wyatt also meeting them!

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!

A very alert Angus Wyatt

Greyson is trying the tea (if you check out Wyatt’s page, you’ll understand!!)

I’m sure that Mama Beth will continue to post lots and lots of pictures of her babies as they grow.  In fact, she’s already posted some videos of them on the URRKN wall – they are so stinkin’ cute, you MUST go look at those also https://www.facebook.com/groups/URRKN/  While you’re there, if you’re not already signed up to be a transporter, why don’t you check out the docs that give you all the information you need to do that??  No car?  Live out of the US?  No worries – we also need cheerleaders and folks who can network us to their friends.  Who knows?  You might know the perfect person to fill a leg on a transport we’re currently putting together.

One last thought from Beth before I go, “To each and every one of you involved in this…from Mom Patsy who made their healthy happy lives possible…to Kelly and Tina with the URRKN…to each conductor along the way who took a day out of their lives to help bring these sweet boys home…to all who have stood by and supported all of us….God bless you all. this day will be etched in my heart forever and I am so grateful. Wyatt is near and resting…I can almost see him smiling, nodding and walking gracefully away, knowing I’ll be okay….(tears)….thank you.”

Choo Choo, Beth (and Wyatt and Robby), Choo Choo!!
